This stud is a repair stud to prevent the use of a helicoil or any other suck repair device when a stud hole in the case has stripped out. You can now over size the hole and tap it to M8x 1.25mm and insert this stud. You no longer have to worry if your helicoil will strip out and the other end of the stud is still the standard 7mm so all your cylinder nuts will remain the same.
